Deluca earns AEast Rookie of the Week Honors

Cambridge, Mass.—Binghamton University men’s lacrosse freshman Tyler Deluca won America East Rookie of the Week on Monday thanks to a 7-point effort this past week. The talented midfielder helped guide the Bearcats to a 2-0 record and set a pair of career-highs in the process.

On Tuesday, Deluca netted his first career hat trick in the Bearcats’ 9-5 non-conference win over Canisius. The Medford, NY native scored a pair of goals in the second half, including an important fourth quarter goal that helped Binghamton win their third straight contest.

Against Stony Brook on Saturday, Deluca showed off his playmaking ability with a team-high four points against the Seawolves. He scored a pair of goals and dished off a career-high two assists in Binghamton’s 14-11 win.

Over the past four games, Deluca has made a significant impact and helped BU win four straight and solidified them as a top-2 seed in the America East tournament. He’s currently on a four-game goal scoring streak and leads all Binghamton freshmen with nine goals, three assists and 12 points.

Deluca is the third player to win an America East weekly award this season. Joining fellow freshman Dan Mazurek (Rookie-April 14) and Tucker Nelson (Player- April 7).
