Locals Celebrate Easter Vigil

Catholic churches all throughout the world are holding Easter Vigils this evening, in what is known to be their holiest week of the year.

St. Anthony of Padua Church in Endicott held their vigil this evening. During the mass, the priest lights a candle symbolizing the "light of Christ." He then lights a parish members candle, as they pass the flame throughout the church until the church is lit with the light of life. Father Serowik says seeing so many people at his church is rewarding in faith.

"It feels great. People are welcome. They're searching for God and  God's present. When people are gathering  together right here in this sacred space this evening, God will make himself present, as we recall once again the sacred acts of his love, his passion, death and
resurrection," said father Jim Serowick.

St. Anthony's will also be holding Easter mass tomorrow at 9am and 11:30am.
