State Education Audit Hits Vestal Central Schools

According to an audit announced today by the New York State comptroller, the Vestal Central School District did not develop reasonable budgets...

Within the past 5 fiscal years the district spent over 21 million dollars less than they planned to--but the general fund increased almost 5 million dollars. During the same time frame, property tax increased by approximately 4 point 8 million dollars.

Efforts to get comment from the district, whose schools are closed for the week, were unsuccessful.
