How to Spend Block Grants in Town of Union

How to spend that Community Development Block Grant money for 2014:

That's what the public hearing was for Wednesday night in the Town of Union:

Public suggestions included: a public memorial skating rink, and road repairs.

Also, the local youth family and community services requested money for their homeless and runaway children support program in which they give these children a place to stay, and other assistance.

"Of course we need your continued support to continue to operate our program, we realize that funding gets tighter every year. We've lost some of our funding from our other funding rescorces so we hope the Town of Union can continue to support us," said Sandra Ohlsen, director of Youth Family and Community Services of Catholic Charities

The Town of Union board has taken in all of tonight's suggestions and will consider their inclusion in the block grant.

The board's decision will be announced at a later date.
