Traditions Says it is Best-Positioned for Casino

Traditions at the Glen is pushing hard to make its case that its venue would be a  better site than others for  a casino in this  area:

Each month, Traditions holds  a media conference --and Friday's focused in part on Traditions' argument that it is in the best position to attract visitors, and provide employment for a local workforce:

Tioga Downs in Nichols, a proposed Wilmot casino in Tyre, and a bid for a downtown Binghamton casino by Vista Hospitality are expected to compete with Traditions for a Southern Tier gaming license.

"It's supposed to be about economic development and you have to have a community to develop.

And that's why we think that our project is so much stronger than if you look at the Tioga project or the Waterloo project. Those areas don't have a community in comparison to what Broome county has," said project manager John Hussar at Traditions at the Glen.

Bidders must submit a $1 million dollar non-refundable application fee to the state, which says it hopes to award licenses in the fall.

That fee is due to the state a week before an April 30th mandatory conference for applicants in Albany.
