Colorful 5K Comes to the Southern Tier
4/6/2014 (Updated 10:46:23 PM)Over 55 hundred people ran throughout the campus of SUNY Broome on Sunday for the Southern Tier's first ever "Color Run."
Runners were splashed with a different color of powder at every mile checkpoint they reached. The 5K is a race that anyone can participate in, and focuses on community togetherness. Those who ran in Sunday's race say they were excited that the Color Run finally made it to the area.
"It's great. It's the happiest day in Binghamton. Look at all these people. Look at the sunny day. It's a great day," said Diane Rigotti, Color Run Participant.
"Awesome to see so many people in one place and just amazing for Binghamton," said Aileen Zielewicz, Color Run Participant.
Today's run raised money for the local American Mental Health Association. Other Color Runs focus on raising money for charities around the world.
