Preventing Depression And High Stress
4/2/2014 (Updated 10:45:36 PM)It isn't always easy to live a heart-healthy lifestyle, but tonight experts at UHS Wilson Medical Center offered health tips and raised spirits.
The Mended Hearts support group covered topics including how to prevent becoming depressed after experiencing heart issues, or even a major surgery. Depression and high amounts of stress can even affect how quickly a person recovers from an injury or surgery.
"We have to recognize that stress affects our hormonal situation, our ability to heal and our attitude makes a difference in how much progress we can make in getting on the road of recovery and getting to the final hurdle of good health," said Mary Lou Winheld, president of Mended Hearts Support Group.
Mended hearts says some ways to prevent depression and stress
are to make sure to get human interaction every day or even just make sure to get out of the house.
