UHS Doctor Reacts to Tragedy
4/1/2014 (Updated 6:46:18 PM)On paper at least operations at the UHS campus in Johnson City returned to normal Tuesday. The head of Southern Tier Imaging released a statement expressing shock and sadness over what happened.
The statement went on to say that the thoughts and prayers of the staff are with the victims of this senseless act and that they express their heartfelt condolences to Officer Smith and his family. But there are still those who work at the UHS campus who are shaken by yesterday's events.
"As you know, we work to save lives. And we saw two lives lost yesterday. I think it was very sad and shocking for us to happen on our own campus. I wish this would not happen here again," said Dr. Kepan Patel, UHS Wilson Memorial Hospital.
Patel said it's going to take the community a great deal of time to get over yesterday's events.
