Elementary Students March madness Tounament

We may be in the midst of March Madness, but on Sunday Vestal's elementary schools gathered to participate in their own version of the tournament.

"Nothing but a positive reaction from both the kids and the parents coming out. A lot of the kids had jerseys made, mom and dad made jerseys, so they're really getting into the spirit of the games today," said Steve Daglio, Phys-Ed Teacher at Clayton Elementary.

Daglio had the idea for a 3 on 3 tournament, featuring kids from the surrounding schools competing to be crowned champions. He says seeing his idea come to fruition was very rewarding.

"As a phys-ed teacher, I love to see the kids up and moving around which they're doing now instead of being home playing the video station," said Steve Daglio.

"Everybody's here on a Saturday. They're moving around, and they're having fun,"said Michael Rotundi, Athletic Director.

While the kids were hot into the competition, they also took valuable lessons away form today's games.

"We're building teamwork, working together, having fun, good sportsmanship, so this is a wonderful time to be active. Especially when it's a little bit cold out. We had a long winter so they're out and active," said Brad Bruce, Principal at Clayton
Elementary.

The 3 winners from the tournament were "Fab 4," "The Bears," and "The Fantastic Four." In Vestal, Vince Briga, FOX 40 HD News.
