Kevin Millar Wins Re-Election as Owego Mayor

Village of Owego Mayor Kevin Millar has won re-election.

He bested challenger Lisa Curatolo by a vote of 394 to 310. Millar stressed his experience and efforts at flood mitigation during the campaign.

He also talked about investigating the idea of funding EMS service by billing the insurance of people who use the EMS calls.

"We would like to look into whether they can bill or not and whether they can supplement what the village currently pays. Currently the village pays out of village tax payer money about $150,000," said Mayor Millar.

Millar has also talked about moving the village's DPW building out of the floodplain and enrolling the village in the federal community rating system in order to lower flood insurance rates.
