Anti-frackers Protest Governor Cuomo

Outside of Cuomo's disaster preparedness program, dozens of anti-frackers urged the governor to ban fracking .

Members of the local Citizen Action say that allowing  hydraulic fracturing in New York State would increase disasters, emergencies and even environmental and health issues. They say the science shows that fracking is dangerous, and the best way to be prepared is to not drill at all.

"We want to send a message to Governor Cuomo that we need to protect New York from hydro-fracking. The science is clear that this process jeopardizes public health, our water supply, our food, and our future," said Matthew Lemke, NYPIRG Organizer.

The protesters even had a sample of water that they say came from an area that had been fracked that they hoped to show the governor.
