In the Class A Girls semi-final matchup at Hudson Valley Community College, the Maine-Endwell Spartans lost to Sutherland from Section VI 43-39. The Spartans led throughout most of the game, until a back-and-forth 4th quarter. Sutherland center Santita Ebangwese, a 6'1" junior netted the final bucket with 1:14 remaining before clinching it with a lay-up with 3.5 seconds remaining. Ebangwese finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
The Spartans were led by Julie Yacovoni's 11 points and 10 rebounds with sophomore Daniella Dean adding 10 points. M-E falls just short of a back-to-back state finals berths and sees its season end with an 18-3 record.
