Imagine hosting the undefeated, number one ranked team in the state in a State Playoff Regional game. Now imagine beating that team, and doing it for the third time in four years. That's what the Maine-Endwell Spartans did to Section IX's Wallkill Panthers on Tuesday in a 47-26 drubbing.
The Spartans were led by Victoria Dean's game-high 16 points and Julie Yacovoni's 14. Not to mention a tough defense that limited Wallkill to just seven points in the second half, and held them without a field goal in the third quarter, and forced 10 turnovers in the third quarter alone.
The Spartans play Peekskill out of Section I at New Rochelle High School on Saturday.
