Reed's historic week earns him AEast Player of the Week honors

VESTAL, N.Y. - After an enormous week, Binghamton sophomore guard Jordan Reed has been named the America East mens basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Its his fourth honor this season - the most of any player in the league.

Reed averaged 31.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in two games. First he set the schools single-game scoring record (Division I) with 33 points in an overtime loss at Hartford. That total was the highest of any America East player in league games this season. Reed then followed with a 30-point showing in BUs overtime loss to first-place Vermont on Sunday. It was the first time in the schools programs Division I history a player has scored 30 or more in back-to-back games and Reed also became the first America East player to score 30 in consecutive games since Vermonts Taylor Coppenrath in 2005.

Reed notched his ninth and 10th double-doubles on the season - the most in the America East. He moved into second place in conference scoring (15.7) ppg. and firmed his hold on the top spot in rebounding (9.0 rpg.). For the second straight year, Reed is making a run at both titles. He is the highest-ranking guard in the nation in rebounding (35th overall) and the only player in the country under 6-foot-5 in the top-75 in rebounding.

Binghamton earned the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 Hartford in the America East quarterfinals Saturday night in Albany. Tip is scheduled for approximately 8:30 p.m. from SEFCU Arena.
