Tigers overpowered by repeat champion Raiders

It was over before it started, the Horseheads Blue Raiders cruised past the Union-Endicott Tigers 62-25 in the Class AA Section IV Finals at the Arena on Thursday night.  The Tigers were forced to play without leading scorer Nicole Kasmarczyk who injured her non-shooting hand last week against Binghamton and was in a hard cast.

The Blue Raiders were led by Amanda Schiefen who scored 21 points, 15 of which came in the first half.  Not only were the Tigers limited to one field goal in the first half, by Alexis Eastman, but they gave up 23 turnovers before halftime as well.

Eastman and Morgan Talley each scored a team-high 8 points for U-E.  The Tigers converted on just eight field goals in the game, but went 8-8 from the free throw line.

The Raiders take home their second consecutive Section Title and advance to the Regional round where they play the winner of the Section I/Section IX Crossover game.  Horseheads next game will be on March 8th at the BU Events Center.
