SUNY Broome Responds to "Unforeseen Circumstances" Regarding Professor's Death

On Thursday, the President of SUNY Broome put out a statement referencing "unforeseen circumstances" surrounding the death of professor Wes Warren last weekend.

In the statement Dr. Kevin Drumm said: "We are shocked and saddened by the news of his passing and moreover we were stunned to learn of the circumstances surrounding his death."

He also announced in the statement that the school will be strengthening it's commitment to address drug use in the Southern Tier and has a variety of workshops on drug awareness planned,  including a special session from the school's Employee Assistance Program on Substance Abuse Management and Prevention for supervisors.

The statement ends by urging anyone who thinks their loved ones may be using drugs to intervene. Drumm states,  "We so wish that we had any inkling of issues with our beloved colleague so that we might have done so."

On Monday, the school issued a statement saying family members believed the associate professor in the Criminology and Homeland Security Department had died of a heart attack..
