Libous Supports Two Year Ban on Common Core Testing

State Senator Tom Libous is adding his voice to those calling for a delay in Common Core testing of students.

Llibous, who wants to curriculum delayed at least two years,  says he's received complaints from hundred of parents.  He say parents feel they've been left out of the conversation about common core while their kids are struggling.

"We're delaying.  We're going back to the Education Department.  We think the Commissioner needs to wake up a little bit here, and can't keep going around the state, trying to convince people that this is the way to going to be done. I think he has to read the people who have been concerned about it, I think the concerns are legitimate," said Libous.

In Albany, a regents subcommittee adopted a slate of revisions to Common Core.  If approved by the full board of regents, students would not be required to meet new state standards until 2022.
