Dollars for Scholars: Continuing Higher Education

The end of the school year  may be approaching but schools across the area are still raising money for continued education. Vestal High-School held a phone-a-thon event today to support their dollars for scholars program.

Students called residents in the district throughout the day for their largest fundraiser of the year. Organizers say the student's are what makes the program successful.

"I think they're the reason why we do so well every year. They're enthusiastic and it's for them that the money is being raised. It's a contact between them and the person on the phone that makes all the difference," said Jerry Etingoff, Dollars for Scholars Vice Pres.

Vestal dollars for scholars annually awards more than 65 thousand dollars in collegescholarships to graduating seniors throughout the district.
