SUNY Broome Takes Place in Russian-American Summit
2/3/2014 (Updated 10:50:12 PM)SUNY Broome took part in a summit over the weekend between 40 Russian and American colleges and universities.
Since 2005, the school has had a dual degree program with Novosibirsk State University in Siberia. 25 Russian students have graduated and 100 more are enrolled in the program. The students take SUNY Broome classes in three management concentrations online. SUNY Broome's president says American degrees are in demand worldwide.
"It's still fairly expensive for them, for their economies. But one of the reasons they want to work with us is that amongst all the choices in the United States, of course community colleges are the least expensive and very high quality," said Dr. Kevin Drumm, President of SUNY Broome.
Drumm says the next step of the program will be to have faculty and student exchanges between the Russian school and SUNY Broome.
