Science is an Adventure
1/29/2014 (Updated 1/30/2014 4:00:49 PM)Here's one way to get kids interested in science. Students at Glenwood Elementary School learned science is an adventure Wednesday.
Children grades kindergarten through sixth got the chance to meet Zoey the kangaroo and a pair of bearded dragons who taught kids about Australian animals.
The kids were also introduced to computer coding and programing.
And members of Binghamton University's Chemistry Club showed the kids some cool chemical reactions.
"Well I think it's going to be really fun to learn new things," said 4th grader Jaylin Hurley.
"So this is just trying to give us an idea of what we could do on the science fair," said 3rd grader Drake Brown.
"So today I think when you look around it's just really about fun, and learning should be fun," said Principal of Glenwood Elementary Doreen McSain.
According to Jordan Patch from Animal Adventures the red kangaroo can jump six feet high and 25 feet far, and uses its hands to communicate with other kangaroos.
Wednesday's event helped kids come up with their own ideas for another science fair three weeks from now.
