Broome County Launches Natural Gas Website

A new Broome county natural gas web site has anti-fracking groups angry with its launch.

"It's a $6,000 pr stunt on the tax payers dollar," Isaac Silberman-Gorn of Citizen's Action said.

Today Broome county executive Debbie Preston launched Broomenaturalgas.com. She says it's meant to bring resources about all different types of natural gas to one place.

"This is not to promote natural gas drilling. As you will see in there there's other things being used such as CNG," Broome County Executive Debbie Preston said.

Broomenaturalgas.com is geared towards residents and businesses. And like the county executive said... It does have information on emergencies, pipelines, Dig Safely NY and yes Hydro-Fracking.

"It links to a lot of government websites which is good but it completely ignores the negative health impacts," Silberman-Gorn said.

Preston though says the site is unbiased.

"There's so many questions out there on both sides. And I wanted an objected site. Which I feel this is," she said.

The Office of Energy Development has been working on creating the cite since the beginning of 2013. Preston says regardless of what happens with fracking down the road, Broomenaturalgas.com will continue to be updated.
