Union-Endicott Budget Workshop Held

Union-Endicott Superintendent Suzanne McLeod says it's too early to tell exactly what the districts budget will look like for the next fiscal year.

On Wednesday, district officials discussed the educational priorities and expenditures for 2014-2015.  Last year, voters approved an over 74,018,000 ollar budget with a tax levy increase of just over two percent. The first budget draft --based on no changes in state aid-- would mean a 76,700,000 dollar budget for 2014-2015 which is a 3.64 percent increase in spending.

This number includes maintaining all current programs and McLeod says grants were responsible for funding some programs last year.

"We were able by virtue of last minute grants by Tom Libous and Donna Lupardo to add 500,000 dollars worth of things that directly/positively affected children and put them back into the budget.  What I don't have a sense of now at this stage is can we keep those," said McLeod.

Another budget workshop will be held on March 5th.
