Residents March for MLK in Downtown Binghamton
1/20/2014 (Updated 11:01:14 PM)Binghamton marked Martin Luther King day with a variety of observances and celebrations. It was capped off with a march through downtown, beginning at the statue of Dr. King at Peace Maker's Square on Court Street, and ending at the First Congregational Church.
"This is a very important night to me. To see us all get together and able to celebrate Martin Luther King," said Dolores Fields, Binghamton Resident.
"For the young people that are coming up behind us, they need to know that they can achieve as long as they believe in themselves and believe and stand on what Martin Luther King stood for," said Kenneth Naughton, Binghamton Resident.
"We are blessed to be as free as we are because the people that came before us fighting for our rights didn't have it like that. I think he would be pleased but we still have a long way to go," said Clarissa Brown, Binghamton Resident.
