The America East named BU freshmen Yosef Yacob Conference Rookie of the Week. In the win over UNH Yacob scored 8 points and had 12 assists. Two days later in the loss to UMass Lowell, he scored a career high 22 points and added one assist. In those two games, the freshmen guard averaged 15 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
Yacob joins Marlon Beck II, Nick Madray, and Magnus Richards as Bearcats to win Rookie of the Week honors this season. It's the first time in the 35 year history of the America East that four players from the same team have won the award in the same season.
While the Bearcats record of 4-13, (1-3) is not ideal, having four freshmen win the award helps the coaching staff recruit new players for the years ahead.
