Local Teen Headed to Hollywood
1/15/2014 (Updated 11:13:23 PM)15-year-old Kaitlyn Jackson of Norwich auditioned in Boston and was given the golden ticket to Hollywood on Wednesday night's season premiere of American idol.
Jackson watched the episode at home alongside her friends and family. She sang a song she said she wrote for her grandfather who passed away.
The judges were nothing short of impressed.
"I have a ton of people here supporting me, some of my best friends and my amazing family and it just means so much that they're all behind me. I know that my entire community is behind me as well. My phone has been blowing up! I can't even keep track of the notifications I'm getting but it's just awesome to just have so much support behind me," said Kaitlyn Jackson, American Idol Contestant.
Jackson has performed twice at Spiedie Fest. In 2011, the New York State Country Music Hall of Fame honored her with the Horizon Award which goes to a promising new artist.
Fox 40 will continue to follow her journey on American Idol.
