14 Graduate Entrepreneurial Assistance Program

It's a sixty hour program known for its intense work load and it teaches students how to start a business of their own.

On Tuesday, friends and family gathered at SUNY Broome to congratulate 14 graduates of the Entrepreneurial Assistance Program.

14 students completed the rigorous class work that included market research, financing, and creating a comprehensive business plan.

The student's business plans were judged by local bankers and small business owners for cash prize awards. The program has proved so successful that even current business owners, three of the graduates, came back to school to learn more.

"I think one of the things that really validates the program is that even though some of them have been in business almost five years, they come to us and they say, 'I learned a lot. And I really wish I'd known some of this stuff when I started my business because it would've made things a lot easier," said Janet Hertzog, Director of Continuing Education and Workforce at SUNY Broome.

"It definitely is worth the time and the money, and it helps you really sort out the steps on how to start a business, how to plan it, do the financials," said Theresa Bovier, graduate of EAP.

The Entrepreneurial Assistance Program takes place each fall at SUNY Broome. If you're interested in joining the program, you can call 778-5012 for more information.
