American Legion Member Dies

A long time Owego American Legion Post 401 member, and World War two veteran, died Friday, after a long battle with an illness.

Richard Pedro of Endicott was loved by his fellow lodge members. He was honorably discharged in 1947 from the war and worked at IBM for 33 years.  We spoke with Pedro's fellow lodge members who looked back on the great man that he was.

"Dick was the type of person who could go into any establishment, whether it was legion members, and he could name everyone in the building. And I don't care where it was or who it was. Fantastic," said Edward Bidwell, Commander of Post 401.

Richard Pedro was always very active in the community and always said his greatest pleasure was that he was made an honorary national commander.
