Governor Cuomo Unveils Tax Plan

Today Governor Cuomo announced details of his more than $2 billion tax relief plan. He's calling for a freeze in property taxes and eliminating the tax rate on upstate manufacturers...

He plans to do this by measures including consolidating local governments, a property tax credit linked to the ability to pay, and corporate tax reform, Cuomo expects to increase economic growth across the state. He says the taxes were outweighing the state's benefits.

"I think this is another installment in proof that it is a new day. And that if you're thinking of business, New York is the place to be. Once we get the negatives out of the way. The high taxes out of the way. Then the assets of New York can shine," said Governor Andrew Cuomo.

According to Cuomo, New York state is currently ranked number two in the nation for jobs created since the recession. The governor also expects a projected two billion dollar surplus by the 2016, 2017 fiscal year.
