Ice Skating at the Park

If you drove by the park on Bermond Avenue today you would see children laughing,  playing, and ice skating.

"We opened on new year's day and we're open every day," Coty Lessler Endicott Public Parks Supervisor said.

For the second year in a row village Mayor John Bertoni created a rink so that families would have a place to enjoy the winter.

"It's excellent, excellent! It's better than being inside and having them sit in front of the TV. They can come down here and have a great time," Felicia Gavazzi of Endicott said.

Most people were stuck indoors yesterday because of the frigid temps and even today.. they're bundled up.

"A coat and snow pants, and ice skates and socks and gloves."

That's what eight year old Dante Bertoni was wearing. He was at the park playing hockey with his friend Michael. And at just eight years old they were not afraid of the ice.

"When I first started it was hard," Michael Moody said.

How did you learn?

"My dad. First he held me when I skated and then I started getting better and stuff," Moody said.

The rink is open Monday through Friday 5pm to 8pm and weekends 1pm to 8pm.
