At first glance John Schurman appears to be nothing more than a 6'6" lanky, but fit, high school senior, but then the high tops go on and he transforms into a shooter with a keen eye and a vertical jump that makes windmill dunks and reverse dunks seem easier than walking.
Binghamton fans were treated to such performances this past weekend during the 22nd annual Mirabito Stop DWI Holiday Classic. Schurman was named to the Region I All Star team after a 47 point, 17 rebound performance in the two games he played.
More reason to watch Shurman? The Fayetteville-Manlius senior has already committed to play at Binghamton University for Tommy Dempsey and the Bearcats.
After his Hornets lost to Maine-Endwell Spartans in the Region I Finals, Schurman told Fox 40 that after a weekend of playing in the Southern Tier, he's glad he chose to spend the next four years here.
