Local Church Provides Food for the Needy
12/22/2013 (Updated 10:41:50 PM)While this time of the year is a time for celebration... but it is also a time for giving... And many in the area will be without food this holiday season.
Trinity Memorial church in Binghamton helped that cause on Sunday. It held a holiday version of it's weekly "Canteen on wheels."
The event provides meals for the needy. This week they gave out presents and holiday cookies to nearly a hundred people. Members of the Church say giving back means a lot to them.
"Part of what we offer here is not just food we offer fellowship. These are folks that know each other in the community. They take care of each other. We are part of their community when they come here as well," said Dave Drebert, Rector.
"To see their faces and for them to say thank you. I mean for us we forget to say thank you when we get up from the table. For these people it may be the only time that they've been fed in days. for them to say thank you, you know they mean thank you," said Sandra Walker, Church member.
"Canteen on Wheels" is held every Sunday of the week. To attend visit trinity-memorial.org.
