Hamel to be inducted into Binghamton HoF

BINGHAMTON, N.Y.  The Binghamton Senators announced today they will be inducting Denis Hamel into the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame in an on-ice ceremony during the January 25 home game versus the Rochester Americans. Hamel played with the Binghamton for parts of six seasons and currently holds
numerous B-Sens all-time and single season records.

Hamel began his time in Binghamton during the 2003-04 campaign totaling 29 goals and 38 assists over 78 games played. The following season Hamel followed up his debut with a 78 point season in 80 games.

The 2005-06 season was Hamels best with Binghamton when he put up a B-Sens single season record of 56 goals and 91 total points in just 77 games played. The following season Hamel joined the National Hockey Leagues Ottawa Senators for 43 games before going to the Atlanta Thrashers and eventually the Philadelphia Flyers. After traveling through three NHL teams in a single year, Hamel returned to the Ottawa organization in 2007-08 and back with the B-Sens where he remained until ending his tenure with Binghamton in 2010.

Through his six seasons with the B-Sens Hamel played in 438 games recording 203 goals and 189 assists for 392 points, all of which are all-time Binghamton Senators records. Hamel also tops the B-Sens record books in power-play goals with 86, game-winning goals with 36 and shorthanded goals with 14.

Over 12 seasons in the American Hockey League Hamel played in 850 career games ranking him 22nd alltime while his 338 career goals list him 11th. Hamel also shares the league record for most power-play goals scored in one year with 27 during the 2005-06 season.
