Norse Energy Files Suit Against NYS
12/17/2013 (Updated 11:05:05 PM)After demanding New York State stop dragging it's feet on fracking,
an oil and gas company has taken legal action.
Attorney's for Norse Energy filed a lawsuit against Governor Cuomo, the DEC and Department of Health Commissioners in State Supreme Court in Albany on Monday.
Company attorneys claim the state violated the Environmental Quality Review Act, which calls for an environmental review with minimum delay.
In a previous letter to DEC Commissioner Joe Martens, attorneys for Norse stated the DEC's lack of a supplemental generic environmental impact statement, or SGEIS, drove Norse into bankruptcy.
It has been five and a half years since the state began to review high volume hydraulic fracturing.
As we reported earlier this month, lawyers representing the trustee for the bankrupt gas company Norse Energy is demanding the state promptly finish it's SGEIS.
