New York State Trooper Dies Following Highway Accident
12/17/2013 (Updated 11:06:45 PM)The New York State Police is mourning the loss of one of its own.
Trooper David Cunniff, who was assigned to Troop T in Fultonville, died Tuesday from injuries he suffered Monday night while conducting a traffic stop on the New York State Thruway.
Cunniff was struck by a tractor trailer during the stop. Cunniff was partially ejected from his cruiser when the tractor trailer was traveling eastbound in the right lane and drove off the roadway for an unknown reason, striking the two vehicles at the traffic stop.
Cunniff is survived by his wife, Amy, and two sons, 6-year-old Caleb and 4-year-old Zachary. He was 35 years old.
