Exciting changes for Mirabito Stop DWI Holiday Classic

As final preparations are made for the holiday season around the Southern Tier, so too are the final steps being taken before the start of the Mirabito Stop DWI Holiday Classic.

The tournament will begin on December 27th with the 3-point and Slam Dunk Contests.  Whereas previous year's these events have been held at Binghamton High School, this year they will be held at the Arena, so that more fans can be accommodated.  Another new addition to the tournament is the Aldo Rossi Jr. Memorial Game preceding the three point and dunk contests at 5:30.  This game will be played between members of the Binghamton and other local police departments.

Another new change can be seen in the two regional brackets.  In previous year's it has been mostly STAC, but certainly all Section IV teams that have been in the brackets, but for the first time two Section III teams have been added.  Fayetteville-Manlius out of Syracuse and New York Mills out of the Utica area will each hold a spot in the regional brackets.

Chris Marion, BC Stop DWI Coordinator says that the inclusion of Section III teams allows some of the local teams to get a look at teams they may see in the postseason.  It also prevents the Holiday Classic from being a "STAC Metro Tournament."

John Schurman, a senior at F-M has signed on to play basketball at Binghamton  University next year.
