Chenango County Toys for Tots Road to Recovery

Just days after thousands of dollars in toy donations were destroyed in a fire, Toys for Tots in Chenango County has been receiving generous donations from the community to help replace those items.

As we've reported, a fire in 40 units at the storage center in the Town of Norwich destroyed around 5,000 dollars in donations meant for the Chenango County Toys for Tots program.

Since then, donations have been coming in and Visions Federal Credit Union has donated a check to cover the cost of all the donations lost.

"The response is amazing, its kind of hard to put in words. I'm just overwhelmed with the support and people calling and wanting to know anything they can do," said Chris Ulatowski the Coordinator of Toys for Tots Chenango County.

Catholic Charities estimates 1,000 children in Chenango County are still in need of toys this season. To donate you can go to www.toysfortots.org.
