Familiar faces appear on strong HoF Ballot

The Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot was announced Tuesday and many faces familiar to Mets and Yankees fans appear on this year's list.  This year's ballot is being regarded as one of the strongest in history.  Several worthy candidates make their first appearance, while many player are held over from last year's "steroid ballot."

Here is the full list of players available with number of years of eligibility and previous percentage of votes:

Don Mattingly, 14th, 13.2%
Fred McGriff, 5th, 20.7%

To earn enshrinement into Cooperstown, a player needs to receive 75% of the vote.  Last year was the first time since 1996 and only second since 1971 that no player earned the necessary 75% of the vote.  Results will be announced on January 8th.
