Before Saturday's game, freshmen Magnus Richards was off to a slow start, averaging just 1.5 points and 1.0 rebounds per game. But Richards turned out a 12 point, seven rebound performance against Radford, increasing his averages to 4.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.
In acknowledgement of his week, the America East named him Conference Rookie of the Week. Head Coach Tommy Dempsey says he has had meetings with Richards to discuss the need to play more aggressive. Richards says that's been his goal the last few weeks of practice, and he hopes it carries over into the games ahead.
