B-Sens finish weekend in style

HERSHEY, PA  The Binghamton Senators got back on track this evening beating the Hershey Bears 5-1 at the Giant Center .  Andrew Hammond earned his fourth consecutive victory stopping 30 of 31 shots faced to improve to 5-3-0 on the season.  Stephane Da Costa turned in a one goal, two assist performance while Mike Hoffman added three helpers leading the B-Sens offensively.

Shane Prince started off the scoring 9:47 into the first period, just nine seconds into Binghamton s first power play chance of the night.  Philipp Grubauer stopped 10 of 11 shots faced in the first 20 minutes of play while Hammond was a perfect 10 for 10.

The second period brought few offensive chances for either team with Binghamton managing just four shots on goal while Hershey managed to tie the contest on defenseman Patrick Weys first goal of the season at 10:16 of the frame.  The period would end with the score knotted at 1-1 heading into the final 20 minutes of play.

Binghamton would take over the third period scoring four goals on just eight shots on goal.  Da Costa would regain Binghamton s lead 6:06 into the final period putting home a beautiful cross-crease pass from Chris Wideman.  Mark Stone would extend the Sens lead to two goals when he received a feed from Hoffman and buried it in the back of the net, making the score 3-1 with just 4:11 remaining.  Andre Petersson added an empty-net marker with 52 seconds remaining before Matt Puempel beat Grubauer with less than 10 seconds remaining moving the final score to 5-1.

Binghamton went 1 for 3 on their power-play chances while they were able to subdue Hershey during all five man-advantage chances.  Hammond earned the first star of the game honors with his solid 30 save performance, 13 of which came within the final 20 minutes of play.

Binghamton returns to action Wednesday, November 27 as they host the Syracuse Crunch in a 7:05 p.m. matchup.  Tickets are available by calling the Binghamton Senators Executive office at (607) 722-7367 or stopping by in person.  Fans can also purchase tickets through the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets during normal business hours by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or at 1-800-745-3000.
