B-Sens roll over Americans for 6 in a row

BINGHAMTON, N.Y.  Binghamton overcome an early first period deficit to beat the Rochester Americans 7-3 after rattling off four consecutive second period goals at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.  Buddy Robinson and Corey Cowick scored two goals while Shane Prince, Stephane Da Costa and Mike Hoffman each added a goal and an assist to lift the B-Sens over the Amerks for the third time in five games.  Andrew Hammond played solid between the pipes for the home team turning aside 31 of 34 shots faced to earn his fourth victory of the year.

Rochester opened things up in the first period with the lone goal in as Mike Zigomanis blocked a Senators power-play slap shot, skated the length of the ice and beat Hammond over his left shoulder for the Amerks second shorthanded tally of the year.  Hammond finished the first period stopping 12 of 13 shots faced while Amerks goaltender Matt Hackett stifled all 10 B-Sens chances.

Binghamton came out in the second period firing on all cylinders.  Cowick evened the scoreboard 1-1 just 3:02 into the middle frame as he put home a wrap-around try from Wacey Hamilton after Hackett couldnt corral the rebound.  Just over a minute later, the B-Sens took the lead as Hoffman pushed another loose puck past Hackett from Cole Schneiders shot off the post putting Binghamton up 2-1 less than seven minutes into the second.  Robinson and Da Costa both added a goal a piece for the home team before the final intermission sending the B-Sens to the locker room up 4-1.  Binghamton outshot the Amerks 20-6 during the period.

The third period began with Rochester inching back to within two goals as Joel Armia scored his first goal of the season beating Hammond 3:20 in.  Binghamton got the three goal lead back when Shane Prince took a bouncing puck deep in his own zone and outskated the Amerks pursuers to notch his third goal of the year.  Zigomanis brought the visitors back to within two at the 12:03 mark of the final period but it was too little, too late as Binghamton added an empty-net insurance goal from Cowick at 18:30 followed by Robinson notching his second of the game with less than a minute remaining in regulation extending their win streak to six games.  Hammond finished with 31 saves to move to 4-3-0 for the season while Hackett dropped to 4-4-2 with the loss.

The B-Sens will take to the road next weekend for three road games in three nights. The first comes Friday night when they travel to Glens Falls to face the Adirondack Phantoms in a 7:00 p.m. matchup before heading to Hershey to take on the Bears Saturday and Sunday.  Binghamton will be back on home ice Wednesday, November 27 when they welcome their East Division rival the Syracuse Crunch in a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.
