Democratic Women of Broome County Look Ahead to Next Election

While the recent elections may have only ended a few days ago, the Democratic Women of Broome County are already planning for next year.
They hosted a meeting today to stress the importance of having women in politics, and were visited by fellow women speakers who have had success running for office. With Terri Rennia's recent campaign ending in a loss, members say it was still a win for all women.

"Any time a women runs, whether she wins or loses, it makes it easier for her the next time or for another women to follow in her footsteps on the campaign trail. It makes it easier for young women to envision running for office someday. it makes it easier for a campaign volunteer. So a loss is never a loss," said Brette McSweeney, Exec. Director of Elanors Legacy.

"It has been an election year and next year we're expecting some city wide races again, county legislator races, as well as the council. So were gearing up, and for women, it doesn't stop," said Margherita Rossi, President of the Democratic Women of Broome County.

Anyone interested in becoming a member is invited to visit any upcoming meeting.
