Seniors Compete for Volleyball Title

Seniors from all over the Northeast bumped, set, and spiked in today's "Senior Games" men's volleyball tournament at Johnson City Middle School.
Players ages 54 to 85 years old played in the tournament. There were teams from Buffalo, New York City, Delaware, and even an all-Russian team. Players there told us why they look forward to playing in tournaments likes this one.

"For the volleyball players, they're eager, because it's hard to find age level competition. It's good competition for them. I'd say they're looking for something like this and they like it," said John Sents, Organizer at Senior Games.

"It's very important. Many of us will also play in rec-leagues or USA ball with younger players. But it's always useful to try and use age groups that you have some leveling factors, so you don't have to play against the young kids that still have the big leap and everything," said Mike McNeil, Endicott Resident.

The teams were seperated into 55, 60, 65 and 70 plus age groups. More than a hundred seniors participated.
