B-Sens beat Amerks for third OT win

BINGHAMTON, N.Y.  The Binghamton Senators defeated Rochester on the road tonight 3-2 in the first of eight meetings between the teams this season.  The B-Sens were able to overcome an early deficit and hold on in overtime as Cody Ceci netted his second game winning goal of the season 1:36 in.  Andrew Hammond earned his second victory of the year with a strong performance between the pipes stopping 30 of 32 Amerks shots.

Rochester started the contest off 4:00 minutes into the opening period as Phil Varone took a rebound from Mike Zigomanis and hit it past an outstretched Hammond putting the hosts up 1-0.  The first period ended with few chances for either team sending the hosts to the locker room ahead.  Hammond turned aside 16 of 17 first period shots by the Amerks while Rochesters Matt Hackett stifled all 11 B-Sens shots faced.

The third period was a goaltender highlight reel with both Hammond and Hackett turning aside 10 shots apiece to force an overtime contest.

Binghamton was able to remain perfect in games decided after three periods when Cody Ceci ripped home the game-winning goal 1:36 into the extra period sending the Senators home with two points and a big overtime victory.
