Barrett Esworthy Suggests Shared Services for Johnson City
10/29/2013 (Updated 6:50:56 PM)Meanwhile in Johnson City, the Democrat running for mayor says the village must share more services to cut down on costs.
Barrett Esworthy is calling for a number of consolidation measures to be phased in over a period of time, including adding volunteers to the Johnson City Fire Department, or possibly merging it with the Endicott or Binghamton Department.
Esworthy also wants to see village police share resources and even weapons with Binghamton's force.
"But he represents the status quo that's been here for so long and that status quo is put the interests of Johnson City's public employees first and hand the bill to Johnson City's tax payers," said Barret Esworthy.
Incumbent Republican Mayor Greg Deemie was unavailable for comment Tuesday afternoon.
