Owego Voters Decide on Whether to Rebuild School
10/22/2013 (Updated 6:52:09 PM)Tuesday, in a referendum, voters in the Owego Appalachin School District are deciding whether to spend an additional 11 million dollars to rebuild the Christa Mcauliffe Boulevard School.
FEMA will be covering 85 to 90 percent of the cost to rebuild the facility, however the aid only covers an exact replica of the previous facilities.
Additional funding provided by the state will go toward making improvements to the school.
Some improvements include an auditorium, a geothermal heating system and a book storage area.
Building aid from the state's education department will reimburse 9.4 million of the cost and the remaining 1.6 million will be covered by the local share.
