B-Sens fall to rival Syracuse

BINGHAMTON, N.Y.  Syracuse traveled down Interstate 81 clearly looking for some revenge after last nights 6-2 loss in front of their home crowd.  Tonight they received just that with a 4-1 victory over the B-Sens in the second game of the home-and-home.  Nikita Kucherov led the way for the Crunch scoring one goal and one assist.

Syracuse started the scoring 9:48 into the opening period off a power-play goal from defensemen Artem Sergeev.  Crunch goaltender, Riku Helenius was only tested only five times in the opening frame staying perfect through one.  Nathan Lawson made his second consecutive start in the net for the home team, stopping 13 of the 14 Crunch shots in the first.

Binghamton came out of the locker room to start the second with a little more intensity, finally putting some shots on the net.  Shane Prince was able to tie the game up at one apiece on his first goal, a power-play tally 17:23 into the second period.  Chris Wideman and Andre Petersson picked up the assists on Princes goal.  The score would remain tied 1-1 heading into the second intermission.
The third period started quickly for Syracuse when Vladislav Namestnikov found the back of the net just 2:34 in, giving the Crunch the lead 2-1.  Less than seven minutes later Kucherov added to the visitors lead before Cedric Paquette put the game out of reach for the B-Sens with his tally at 15:38.  Helenius backstopped the win for the Crunch, stopping 26 of 27 shots for his second victory of the year.  Lawson suffered his first loss of the year, stopping 28 of 32 shots faced.

Binghamton will have less than 24 hours to think about the loss, as they travel to Connecticut for a 3:00 p.m. faceoff versus the Bridgeport Sound Tigers tomorrow afternoon.  Fans can listen to the Voice of the B-Sens, Grady Whittenburg, who will have the call live on Oldies 96.9FM or 680AM.

The B-Sens will return to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena next weekend for two games. Friday they face division rival the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Saturday will be against the Adirondack Phantoms, both contests will start at 7:05 p.m.  Tickets for both games are available by calling the Binghamton Senators Executive office at (607) 722-7367 or stopping in between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.  Fans can also purchase tickets through the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets during normal business hours by visiting or at 1-800-745-3000.
