Anti-fracking Rally at Peacemakers Stage

Binghamton residents rallied today to voice their opinions on fracking in New York State.

As part of Global Frackdown Worldwide day, those against fracking gathered to listen to speakers like mayor Matt Ryan explain the potential damages drilling can cause. Those against  hydraulic fracturing say it pollute the water, while supporters say it would be a great way to earn revenue for the state.

"We've seen the negative affects right over the border. And we don't, this is just not the right choice for New York," said Issac Silberman-Gorn of Citizen Action New York.

"It's our right, it's our land. And it's cleaning the environment, and it's cleaning our waterways, it's cleaning the air we breathe. We need to move forward with natural gas drilling," said Victor Furman of Joint Landowners Coalition.

Both sides are hoping to gain the support of governor Andrew Cuomo, who will decide New York's fracking fate.
