Binghamton firefighters and their families came together Friday to remember their fallen brothers and sisters.
St. Paul's Church on Chenango Street held a mass Friday morning honoring Binghamton firefighters.
Together , they prayed for their safety while in the line of duty. Firefighters remembered their brother John Janos who died in April and all the other Binghamton firefighters who died before him.
"My father died in the line of duty so certainly he comes to mind. There were several other firefighters I knew when I was a child who died in the line of duty. It reminds us all of our mortality and the dangers of the job," said Assistant Chief, Steve Faughnan.
The mass is held each year in October for Fire Prevention Month. Family and friends gathered after the mass for a breakfast honoring the firefighters.
