Time to get Flu Clinic Shots
10/10/2013 (Updated 7:41:08 PM)Now's the time to take your shot against the flu.
Thursday was the first of four flu shot clinics at the Broome County Health Department.
According to the county there have been no confirmed cases of the flu yet so now is the time to get protected.
This year's shot protects against four strains of the flu as opposed to the shot from the past few years which offered protection against three.
"It is the best protection we have against flu and flu can be very serious. Even young, healthy people can die from the flu. It's a good idea. It's recommended for everyone over the age of six months," said Communicable Disease Nurse Marianne Yourdon.
Vaccines will be available by shot only, not via the flu mist, and will be $25 unless covered by insurance.
Other clinics will take place October 28th, November 4th, and December 12th.
