VESTAL -- Could there be a pharmacy school opening at Binghamton University?
According to the university's provost, it's in the works. A proposal for a pharmacy school has been submitted to SUNY in hopes of being up and running by August 2017. Provost Donald Nieman tells Fox 40 that it makes a lot of sense to open a pharmacy school here in Binghamton.
"Demand for pharmacists nationwide is very strong. We know students who get a Pharm. D. at Binghamton will be in high demand. We think the quality of the product we can deliver is very, very high. The value proposition is very good compared to private universities," said Nieman.
The school would offer a doctor of pharmacy program and a Ph.D. research degree. Nieman says renovations and rearranging of current classrooms will free up space for the pharmacy school.
